I’d bet there’s at least one really cool way to make money on this page that you haven’t considered.
I will expand your idea of ways you can make some extra money and I think you will be pleasantly surprised. You don’t have to do all of these, just find something that you find appealing. They are pretty cool and fun, so get your side hustle on!
Let’s get started!
1) Focus Groups
I personally love focus groups, and I have been participating in them for years. A focus group is a group of people brought together for the purpose of evaluating a product, service, idea, or the like, for market research. Focus groups are an important tool for companies to get consumer feedback prior to spending the big bucks on development and deployment.
Anybody can be part of a focus group. All you need to do is register with a focus group company/recruiter, and it’s free to register. You will be contacted when you fit the criteria for a study. You do not have to have any particular skills or credentials. People from all walks of life are needed. Pay is in the form of an honorarium, often in cash. I love doing focus groups because I get to provide needed input and feedback, they are fun, and I make few bucks.
Focus groups are all around the country, but more readily available in larger cities. You can Google “YOUR CITY NAME focus groups” or check out http://findfocusgroups.com
2) Organize people’s closets
So many people are unorganized and surrounded by clutter, and would gladly pay you to put everything in their proper place. If you are naturally organized, why not make money helping others? This would be a perfect fit for you. You can put up an ad on Craigslist, or Google it for your area.
3) Freelancing & Outsourcing
Become freelancer and outsource your talent. Provide your skills to a local or worldwide audience of customers. You may have heard of Fiverr (https://fiverr.com) where gigs start at 5 bucks, but there are also gigs lots of money there too. Fiverr is one of many platforms where you can hire or be hired for virtual gigs. Did you know there are also a slew of gig platforms that you can use locally for in-person gigs for just about anything you can think of. Check out https://www.upwork.com for freelancing gigs for just about anything, and https://www.taskrabbit.com for tasks that you can do such as handiwork, home improvement, installations, furniture assembly, moving, etc. You can also Google “gig platforms”.
4) Personally Assist Someone
This one is good if you like to help and assist people. This encompasses everything from in-home assistance to personal chefs. There is a great need to be filled nationwide. Expect to make between $20 and $100 an hour. You can Google “personal assist YOUR CITY” for a list of agencies. If you are in New York or Los Angeles, you can check out http://pavillionagency.com.
5) Teach A Class
Did you know you can teach a class on a subject that you choose? There is a company called The Learning Annex providing adult education in several major US cities. Make some money, help your community. If you have an idea for a class (“How to make money online”?) email them at newcourse@learningannex.com. Perfect! Be a teacher! Find out more about The Learning Annex here: https://www.facebook.com/LearningAnnex
6) Become A Secret Shopper
I applied to be a secret shopper years ago, and much to my surprise I was accepted. It turns out I was about to move out of the country, so I had to decline. I never applied since. Be careful what you wish for!
Here’s the low-down…
If you have common sense, it’s easy to be a secret shopper. You will be sent undercover to shop in various stores and establishments to evaluate and provide feedback for the services provided. Each gig can earn you between $20 and $100, and you often get to keep products. Evaluate a restaurant and you get a free meal in addition to getting paid. Nice! 7) Be A Substitute Teacher
The policies will vary and will depend on your city and school district. In New York City, you need to have a bachelor’s degree and no criminal history (NYC, apply here: https://www.schools.nyc.gov). You can make some nice money on the side. Check your local school district or in larger cities, the department of education.
8) Be An Extra In A Movie/TV
This may be easiest in New York or Los Angeles, but gigs are available in many cities nationwide. It can be a pretty cool thing to do. You’d be surprised how in demand extras can be. Check out https://www.centralcasting.com. Also check out https://www.nycastings.com (not just for NYC).
9) Be A Voice-Over Artist
If you think you have the voice, then you owe it to yourself to check it out. You can do commercials, jingles, or TV shows and movies… even gaming! And animated films require voices! Having a demo is kind of important if you want to use an agent, but does not have to be professionally produced. Here is an agency to check out http://www.cesdtalent.com. If you want to give it a shot without an agent, check out https://voice123.com.
