Welcome to Day 1 of the “How to Start a Blog” eCourse!
Congratulations for being here. You have just separated yourself from the herd of “wanna-bees”. I think a few words of encouragement are in order here because no one can become successful without passing this point. So take a deep breath, this is going to be fun.
There is going to be some work to do and I am going to hold your hand through the process. Nothing worthwhile comes without some effort. Successful people aren’t lucky, they just get started and stay with it. Let’s get started.
Today we are going to go through compelling reasons to start a blog. Even if you already know you want to start a blog, this quick lesson will get you thinking, which is going to help you choose a great niche (tomorrows lesson).
Something made you want to take this ecourse. How much thought have you given to having a blog? Do you know what a blog can do for you in addition to making money?
Just know that there is no right or wrong reason to start a blog. As you read this, let your thoughts and dreams run wild. We are taught in school to stop dreaming and face reality… that’s a bunch of hogwash. Entrepreneurs never stop dreaming. Your dream becomes your reason why, and your reason why becomes your goal. Nothing happens without a goal. Follow your dream and go for it!
Side Note: If you just want to get your blog started right now, you can head over to the How To Start A Blog Tutorial and get your blog up and running in under 20 minutes!
So, here are compelling reasons to start a blog now:
1) Stretch your mind
Your blog is a way you can challenge yourself for something better and grow as a result of it. What better way to challenge yourself and grow, than by immersing yourself in something you want?
You may have heard people say that the journey is more fulfilling than the destination, and it’s absolutely true.
To help you grasp this incredible bit of wisdom, consider Pablo Picasso, Claude Monet, or Vincent Van Gogh. Of course these great artists enjoyed the income and recognition for their famous works or art, but they were happiest when they were actually doing the painting. That’s what challenged them. The same holds true for the Super Bowl MVP. Do you think you could enjoy the trophy without playing the game?
The money and the lifestyle is awesome, but it’s the actual blogging that makes you feel valuable and worthy. It’s fun, but not always easy. You will be challenged, but wow is it worth it!
2) Passive Income
You can earn passive income with your blog. That means that your blog can continue to make money for you with little to no effort, say from a blog post you wrote last year. Your passive income might not be huge, but it can pay your mortgage or your rent. Wouldn’t that be nice?
3) Active Income
You can make BIG money by taking a proactive approach to your blog. You are still going to spend way less time than on a regular job, and have a whole lot more fun.
And the cool part is, much of your active income is still somewhat passive. What I mean by that is, you when you continue to write articles and emails and help your viewers, those actions will continue to produce since they are “etched” into the fabric of your blog.
Your actions translate into income, and there are countless ways you can create income with your blog. If you are willing to put in the time, there is no limit to the income and lifestyle you can have.
4) Fun!
When you blog about your passions and knowledge in your niche, you will continue to develop your expertise and you’ll have fun doing it.
What more can I say? What can be better than doing something you love and making money? Isn’t that what you dreamed of as a kid?
5) Live Life On Your Schedule
This is a big one for me. I love waking up when I want to. It’s a great feeling to work when I choose to work, and because I love what I am doing, I am relaxed. Working in my sweats from home sure beats that commute to work!
6) Build Your Confidence
Getting started may be a little scary, and I get that because I went through the same thing. Once I began writing and publishing (blogging), I became a little more comfortable. Over time, my self-confidence grew and then a creative rush of ideas began to flow.
You don’t need to look down the road. The very act of blogging builds confidence and paves the way.
7) You Can Help Others
Your blog can make a difference in someone else’s life. That’s a bold statement, and it feels soooo good to help other people!
When you blog about a topic you have passion for, your posts will resonate with other people who are in the same boat. When you focus on sharing something that solves a problem, or guides them in some way, you can’t help but feel excited. It goes far beyond making money, and that helps you grow as a person too. How cool is that?
8) It’s Pretty Cheap To Start A Great Blog
If you ever started a business you can relate. It can coast thousands, tens of thousands, even hundreds of thousands of dollars to get a “conventional” business started. And then you’d probably be working your butt off with 12 hour days for the first year.
You can start your blog with just a few dollars. And in many cases, you can make more money and have more time for your life with a blog. That’s crazy!
I would know. I started and built several offline businesses, and I know how much time and money it takes to make it successful. It was fun, and I did make money, but I wouldn’t take that route again. In fact, I got into the online business so I can have more time and freedom. You can too.
Think of it like this: Your blog is your way to express yourself, share your passion, and make money too. Your blog can literally transform your life.
Today’s lesson is complete. Tomorrow I am going to help you choose a blogging niche that’s great for you. Stick around!
