Do you know your writing style? Did you even know there was such a thing? You already have a writing style, you just aren’t aware of it yet. Once you uncover your writing style, you will gain a competitive edge.
Your writing style is unique to you, and discovering it gives you a HUGE competitive edge. Most people try to be someone else and they fall short. It’s simple to find your own style, and when you do, you will ROCK IT!
You are unique, and so is your writing style.
I am going to show you how to easily identify your style by looking at who you are.
I’ll keep it simple so you can find your style in just a couple of minutes in this short post.
Your writing style reflects your personality
When we meet people in real time, face to face, we have the opportunity to see facial expressions and gestures, we hear tone of voice, and feel their level of enthusiasm.
We determine quickly if we relate. Meeting people online provides a different set of challenges, but it is still very similar. No one wants to connect with people they cannot relate to.
For this reason, you cannot hide behind your computer… in fact, you may have to take a little extra effort to build trust.
If you want to be a successful blogger, you need to connect with your audience and build trust.
I suggest building trust by showing who you already are
We are all unique. We have individual personalities and different ways of communicating. The best way to blog is to be you, and to convey your personality and way of communicating through your writing. This will help earn you trust.
If you found a successful blogger and you are trying to duplicate their style, chances are it is going to be difficult for you and you will have trouble connecting with your audience. It’s tempting, but it’s just not a good idea.
Connecting to your audience is the key to your success
Just like hanging out with your friends, they appreciate who you are, they relate to you, and they would not want it any other way. Even if you do not have many friends, that’s ok too. Be yourself, and you’d be surprised how many people out there will connect and relate to the unique person known as you.
To have a successful writing style is to discover your natural writing style. Notice I did not say to choose your style, I said to discover your style. It’s there within you already. Don’t try to mimic or be someone else.
You may be outgoing, you may be shy. You may be casual, or you may be formal. You may be technical, or you may be general.
It does not matter what words you use to describe your style, just know who you are and how you communicate naturally. You will naturally attract and maintain an audience of people who relate to your style and who want you to be you.
Imagine if you are a direct-to-the-point and casual person, and you wrote a post that was long and detailed. How do you think your audience will respond?
If you kept doing that, they would stop following you.
Find your own way. For me, I would define my style as casual with a touch of detail and explanation. I am the same way in front of a microphone or face to face. I want to help in an easy and enjoyable way. Life is supposed to be fun, and so is blogging, learning, and making money.
Hey, if you found this quick post valuable, help me out and share it. My intention is for you to realize that you should just be you, you are amazing! Forget about being like other bloggers. Be yourself and watch people admire YOU!
