Your mindset matters. In fact, your attitude towards success is a direct correlation of the results you experience. So what is the difference between how successful people think vs. the rest of the population? How can you think like an entrepreneur?
Before we delve into this, I ask if you have had similar experiences on your quest for success.
Have you ever attended a success boot camp, training seminar, or audio program? I’m referring to any subject, not just Internet marketing. Perhaps real estate investing, stock trading, or a Tony Robbins motivational seminar?
Have you noticed anything in common?
I read dozens of books, listened to plenty of audio programs, and attended countless boot camps and seminars. I noticed something in common that has been a part of just about every training program I’ve done, and that is the importance of the correct mindset. This part of the training is usually at the beginning of each program curriculum. Why?
Why is it so important to have the right mindset?
Experts agree that there is a spiritual power at work, and your thoughts guide your results. And it applies, whether you believe in it or not.
Furthermore, studies have been conducted supporting these findings. Interestingly enough, people who achieve their desires and objectives are the first to tell you the important power of your thoughts.
There is enough support here to pay close attention. People who became successful, believed first that they would become successful.
Do you think like an entrepreneur?
How does an entrepreneur think?
If you want success, you must acquire the success attitude, the success mindset. You must think like an entrepreneur.
If you are not there yet, that’s ok (that’s why you are reading this). Entrepreneurs are not born, they are self-created. Sure, there are some that were born into better circumstances that foster the proper mindset, but there are tons of examples of people who “made it” on their own account. Don’t ever let your circumstances stop you. You can develop the entrepreneurs mindset.
Let’s take a look at the characteristics of the entrepreneurs mindset.
8 Characteristics of the Entrepreneur Mindset
1) Accountability
Now is the time to accept full responsibility for your successes, your failures, and your life. Even if it’s not the way you want it to be, it’s time to stop blaming others.
Stop blaming your parents, your teachers, the economy, your government, or being born on the wrong side of the tracks. If you continue to blame, you will not achieve success. So put an end to blaming right now. To be successful, you must be completely accountable and accept full personal responsibility.
Am I being harsh? Yeah, but this isn’t summer camp. This is a success blog, and I’m going to tell you like it is. I’ll tell you the hard realities, but I’ll also show you the path and hold your hand through the process. But YOU (and only you) have to do the work and exert the effort. It’s worth it.
2) Self-image
How you see yourself is always who you become. Every person on this planet has the potential to be, do, or have what he/she desires. The only limitation is how you see yourself. If you see yourself as a winner, you will win. If you see yourself as a failure, you will fail.
Your sub conscious mind gets to work producing the mirror image of how you see yourself. Change your self-image, change your results. It can be done.
3) Belief
Belief is the secret sauce to change. When you believe you can accomplish something, or be something, then your self-image changes. So the big question is, how do you begin to believe something that you don’t believe? The good news is, you CAN change your beliefs.
Others have attempted, but their underlying belief that it cannot be done prevented them from achieving this feat. Then came along Roger Bannister who believed he can do it… and he did.
But here’s the amazing part:
Once Roger broke the 4 minute mile, dozens of others soon did the same. For hundreds of years, no one could do it because of their beliefs. Then suddenly, people see that it can be done, and others followed suit… again, because of their beliefs.
This my friend, is a classic example of the power of your beliefs.
So how do you change your beliefs? There’s nothing like pure unadulterated self confidence to raise the bar and set new standards. But I’m not asking you to do that… I’m asking you do what has already been done.
Repeated exposure to success, success stories, and motivational material will penetrate your mind, and your beliefs will begin to shift. Once your beliefs begin to shift, so will your self-image. It is for this reason that you take action to train your mind. It is imperative that you believe in yourself and what you are doing. All the actions that I teach you will be meaningless if you don’t believe in yourself. This is a process, so stick with it. It works.
4) Passion
Entrepreneurs have passion for their work. They want to do it. Although it can be done, it’s hard to achieve anything when you are not excited about it.
I read lots of blogs and forums about Internet marketing and success in general. I find it is common among beginners to choose a niche based on how much money they think they can make. Most fail miserably. But that’s not you, right? You are here because you want to know how to do it the right way.
My advice is consistent: Do something you love
It’s hard to develop passion for something arbitrary, yet it is easy to build and monetize that which you are passionate about.
If you are not sure where your passion lies, read my post on how to choose your niche.
5) Persistence
Success takes time. It is vital that you remain persistent to achieve your objectives. Sounds logical enough, but under duress it can be a challenge to remain focused and on point.
Willpower is another way to say it. It’s not always easy, but then again if it were, everyone would be a millionaire.
You just have to stick with it and do what it takes. It’s a heck of a lot easier when you are focused on your goal and you love what you are doing. Perhaps you are beginning to see how all the pieces are fitting together (accountability, self-image, belief, passion, etc.).
Avoid people who tell you that you can’t do it. Most mean well, but they are projecting their self-image and their belief’s on you. Do not let that happen. Stay focused, and plow through.
6) Eagerness
Eagerness is a form of excitement, which we touched upon earlier. When you are eager, it’s hard to get derailed.
When I think about choosing the right niche, I often think about my go-kart.
7) Decisiveness
If you want to be successful, you will need to learn to make decisions. No wishy-washy bs here. You must acquire the ability to look at a problem or situation, process the available information, and make a confident decision. Indecisiveness leads to failure, and your ability to make decisions will make or break your success.
If you wait, you will begin to doubt yourself. Yet your decisiveness strengthens your self-image and keeps you moving along your path.
8) Mastermind
A mastermind is a team of two or more people who meet physically or over the phone on a regular basis to help each other achieve their respective goals. Your team should consist of men and women who have passion and integrity, and who can be trusted.
The influence of a mastermind is enormous, and you can only begin to understand once you are engaged.
The power of human thought and creativity is staggering, and when two or more minds come together, solutions and ideas seemingly come from out of thin air.
In conclusion
Your mindset and your thoughts are directly related to the success you will achieve. This is perhaps the most important subject matter on this blog. No matter what you learn about blogging, your success is inherently tied to your thoughts about your success.
I want to remind you to dream, and to dream without limitation. Write your dreams down. Go all in.
Your only boundaries are in your own mind. You can free yourself and become boundless. Learn to believe in yourself and follow your dreams with confidence and persistence.
