It’s a great question if you are new or if you are still trying to get traction. But if your audience is growing, you are reaching people, and you are making money, then you already know.
The answer in short: MONEY, FREEDOM, CHOICE, and oh yeah… and it’s fun!
I think blogging is awesome, but it takes a lot of work. So I ask you this question… is blogging right for you? The question is, how badly do you want it? If you have ever wondered why you should (or shouldn’t) start a blog, you are asking a great question.
In this short post, I’ll provide insight to help you decide if blogging is for you, but before we get started, just understand that blogging is not a fit for everyone. View this post as a way to help you determine if you should begin blogging. I am your guide! If I don’t answer your questions here, then reach out to me to ask.
Let’s get right into it.
Reasons You May Want To Be Blogging
- To record and share your progress with something that is important or personal to you
- To help other people by sharing something you know
- To strengthen and grow your own expertise on a topic of interest
- To try something new for yourself!
- To make money!
- To live the life you choose!
These are some awesome reasons to get into blogging, do any appeal to you?
Personally, I love the online business and I love blogging, but as I already mentioned, it takes time and effort… especially when you are first getting started.
Expect a learning curve… this doesn’t happen overnight. Blogging successfully requires several steps. They are:
- Start / launch your blog
- Create content
- Monetize your blog
- Drive traffic to your blog
As you can see, starting your blog is just the first step (but often times getting started is the hardest part). You’ll work hard to produce content because you need to do a lot of that in the beginning. Running your blog is an ongoing (but more relaxed) process of creating content and driving traffic (marketing). I love to create content because I know I am helping people, but I find marketing the most fun.
Blogging For Money
Most people want to get into blogging for money, so maybe I should have listed it first on the above list. Are you interested in making money online? If so, blogging is a great way to do it. However, if you want to be successful making money as a blogger, then you must have something of value to offer your audience.
Making money doing something you love is great and you should be monetizing your efforts if that is what you wish to do. I just wanted you to be aware that people who get into blogging for money, but have nothing to offer, go nowhere. They don’t even know what to write about. That’s why it is important to get involved with a topic that you find interesting, or appealing. When you choose something you love or enjoy, it will be easy to write. There’s no room for writer’s block when you teach or share what you love.
Here’s some inspiration to help you find what you love
- Perhaps you are an expert at your current job – whatever that may be. If you enjoy it, you can blog about it and help people at the same time. Share your tips, tricks, and methods.
- Or perhaps you have a hobby that you love. Again, share what you know and if it’s a new hobby, share as you learn. You audience will appreciate your insights.
- You can also blog about something that interests you, even if you have no knowledge or experience when you start. You can share your journey, and share what you learn. Your audience will join in and share what they know too.
Blogging is a great way to share your passion, build your knowledge, and yes… make money.
Commit The Time
Those are good reasons to start a blog, but if you are not willing to put the time in, it probably won’t work out well for you. You need to be consistent to expand and grow your blog, and to hold the attention of your audience.
Getting a blog started is easy when you know how. Actually, anything is easy when you know how, and difficult when you don’t. I can show you how.
Getting Started
The costs to get into blogging are minimal, but there some costs. You will need a host. Don’t use a free host. Check out my post on how to start a blog to see why it is a bad idea to use Blogger, Blogspot, Tumblr, or any free host. This is important if you plan to grow and make money.
Now you just need to decide if you should start a blog of your own. Whether personal, business, or for hobby, blogging is fun, stimulating, and rewarding.
